MMEI
Monday Music Education Institute
Advancing music education through research and community partnership.
Origin Story
Support music learning in community
The Monday Music Education Institute began as a shared vision among musicians and educators, each bringing their own cultural and linguistic background to the table. With training across conservatory, Suzuki, Dalcroze, and Kodály traditions, they created a space where music education could be inspired by artistry and grounded in inquiry.
MMEI grew into a place where diversity and inclusion are at the heart of learning. Students, teachers, and communities explore music not only as notes on a page, but as a way to spark curiosity, creativity, and meaningful connection.
Research
We investigate new approaches to music learning and teaching through interdisciplinary and evidence-based research. Our studies explore how music education can better support students’ cognitive, emotional, and social development, and how teachers can adopt reflective, adaptive, and sustainable teaching practices.

Educational Practice
Our educational practice applies research in real teaching contexts, connecting artistic performance with pedagogical insight to foster deeper learning for teachers and students.
In our classrooms and workshops, students and teachers learn together through active music-making, reflection, and creative exploration, fostering confidence, curiosity, social connection, and lifelong musicianship.
Community Connection
Students learn to use their musicianship to make a positive impact on others and the world.
We provide opportunities for community engagement and reflective learning, supporting students as they connect with others and discover their role in the community and society.
Artistic Growth
Students develop confidence, technical skill, and expressive musical ability through comprehensive training and performance opportunities.
They participate in private lessons, group classes, masterclasses, and public performances, guided by professional musicians and experienced educators.
Social and Emotional Learning
(SEL)
Students develop self-awareness, empathy, emotional regulation, and teamwork through music education.
Collaborative learning, ensemble playing, and reflective practice provide the experiences that cultivate these skills, which not only enhance their musical growth but also empower them to navigate life with confidence and resilience.
