Réunion des Goûts | Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra

On March 29, Monday Music had the joy of documenting Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra’s chamber concert, Réunion des Goûts, at Harvard Memorial Church Sanctuary.

Presented in celebration of the 300th anniversary of François Couperin’s Les Nations, the program explored the idea of goûts-réunis, or “styles reunited,” tracing the rich exchange of musical influences across Baroque Europe — from Monteverdi to Rameau, and the many beautiful grey areas in between.

At the heart of the program was Couperin’s L’Imperiale, a work that reflects his deep interest in blending national styles and creating dialogue between traditions. Through this special concert, the ensemble brought to life a spirit of artistic curiosity, elegance, and connection that continues to resonate 300 years later.
